Purple Star School logo and Eastland Career Center logo

Eastland Career Center is proud to announce its designation as a Purple Star School by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. This honor is awarded to schools that go above and beyond to support students and families connected to the U.S. military.

The Purple Star designation recognizes schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of military-connected youth—especially as they navigate frequent moves and school transitions.

"We are incredibly proud to be recognized as a Purple Star school,” said Eastland Career Center principal Joseph Gates. “At Eastland Career Center, we strive to ensure that all of our students are supported in all of their pursuits, including those from military families. We appreciate our students and families who make sacrifices in service to this country and support those who are or will enlist in any branch of the U.S. military."

To earn this recognition, Eastland Career Center met strict criteria set by the Ohio Purple Star Advisory Board. This includes having a dedicated military liaison on staff, providing resources for military families, and offering staff professional development on the challenges military-connected students may face.

A total of 367 Ohio schools received Purple Star designations as members of the Purple Star Class of 2025. One hundred fifteen Ohio schools received the esteemed award for the first time and 252 schools earned a renewal after three years as dedicated Purple Star Schools.

Keep an eye out for the Purple Star logo on our website and around campus—it’s a symbol of our continued commitment to serving those who serve.
