Teaching Professions Shines at Educators Rising State Conference
March 22, 2023 | EFCTS
The Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools Teaching Professions satellite program sent 32 students to participate at the 2023 Educators Rising state conference and represented well after learning that 10 students will move on to represent the school at the organization’s national conference.
The Educators Rising state conference offers students a chance to connect, learn, and compete with other students from around Ohio. The conference was held at Capital University (Columbus) on March 8-9. The top three finishers in each competition and those that earn Gold status in their respective contest qualify for Educations Rising Nationals, which will be held between June 28 and July 2, 2023, in Orlando, Fla.
Junior Austin Wolfe (Hamilton Twp.) highlighted the day by taking gold in the Project Visualize contest. He will now advance to the national competition in that category.
EFCTS took the top two spots in that contest after senior Marissa Andrews (Gahanna Lincoln) earned silver. Six students placed gold, silver, or bronze in those contests that students participated in.
Juniors Kaylin Fisher and Hannah Kamara, both of Gahanna Lincoln High School, also qualified for nationals, each placing second overall in their respective competitions. Fisher took second in the Exploring Administrative Careers category while Kamara placed second in Public Speaking.
An additional 13 students placed inside the top 10 in different competitions throughout the state conference. A full list is featured below.
It was also announced that junior Lexi Lieb (Gahanna Lincoln) was elected as one of Ohio’s newly elected state Education Rising officers. Her position will be announced as a part of an officer induction ceremony on April 26.
As a chapter, the Teaching Professions junior and senior programs were also designated as Honors Chapters.
