Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools opened its doors to the Greater Columbus community to celebrate the Halloween holiday. On Wednesday, October 26, the District hosted its second annual Tech or Treat event at Eastland Career Center and Fairfield Career Center, allowing area families to enjoy a family-friendly, indoor, and safe trick-or-treating experience.
Throughout the week, staff and students adorned their rooms in spooky decorations, while the instructional labs used their program themes to fuel their creativity. The doors to each career center open at 5:30 p.m. and the ghouls, goblins, princes, and princesses streamed in to begin exploring the clever and holiday-themed classrooms and labs.
Each career center was full of lab-related and Halloween-themed activities that provided children of all ages fun and extra chances at candy, in addition to the room-to-room trick-or-treating that spanned the hallways. At Eastland Career Center, the Criminal Justice program constructed an obstacle course and hosted a dance party, while Culinary provided sweet treats and cider to attendees. At Fairfield Career Center, the Multipurpose Room was filled with games like ring toss, cornhole, and candy corn bowling, and the Animal Management program lined the lab with animals of all kinds, including a baby cow.
As enjoyable as the candy and activities were, there were many smiles and laughs had by the plethora of unique and creative costumes worn by children and parents, alike. Wednesday Adams and the Pillsbury Dough Boy? made appearances in addition to Among Us! characters, Ghostbusters, superheroes, and wizards, just to name a few.
Thank you to all from our communities who chose to join us for Tech or Treat. We can’t wait for next year’s event, already. Have a happy and safe Halloween!
