Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools has announced that Rodney Harris has been selected as Eastland Career Center’s newest assistant principal.
Harris retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2016 as a master sergeant. He continues to train instructors for the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) and has been hand-picked to facilitate speaking engagements for the Marines in locations around the world.
He earned his bachelor’s in social science and education, and his master’s in higher education, both from Ashford University. He later earned his master’s in educational leadership and administration from George Mason University. Most recently, he served as assistant principal for Canal Winchester High School where he focused on goal setting, leadership development and curriculum optimization.
Harris follows Joey Gates, who is moving into the position of principal at Eastland Career Center. He will join Holly Griffin as assistant principal heading into the 2022-23 school year.
Gates played an active role in the hiring of Harris, and said, “Rodney’s military background and proven leadership will be an asset to the career center. I look forward to working alongside him to create a more diverse career-technical education to prepare students for our changing world.”
Harris officially began his duties on July 1, 2022.
