Eastland-Fairfield's Performing Arts program at Reynoldsburg High School's Livingston Campus presented "The Meeting", a fictional account of a Civil Rights summit taking place in a Harlem hotel room circa 1964, on February 12th &13th. The play was presented on Facebook Live each night.

"The Meeting" is a 1987 American play by Jeff Stetson about an imaginary meeting between Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X in 1965 in a hotel in Harlem during the height of the Civil Rights Movement. The play was later televised on American Playhouse in 1989. It won a Louis B. Mayer Award and eight 1987 NAACP Theatre Awards and has been performed throughout Europe and the United States. The two main characters wrestle with each other, their ideals and their place in history. This explosive battle of wills becomes a harrowing search for truth rife with beautiful dialogue and an occasional belly laugh.
The cast includes:
- Keith Queener (Malcolm X), a senior in Eastland-Fairfield’s Performing Arts program and Reynoldsburg High School. While enrolled in the program he has performed in "She Kills Monsters", "The Importance of Being Earnest", and was featured in the ensembles of "Godspell" and "A Question of Freedom".
- Marquan Denby (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.), a senior in Eastland-Fairfield’s Performing Arts program and Pickerington High School Central. This marks his debut in a production in the program, but he has also appeared in productions of "Monty Python’s Spamalot" and "Macbeth". He will appear in "Almost, Maine" in November 2020 at Pickerington High School Central.
- Elijah Garrett (Rashid), a senior at Reynoldsburg High School Encore Academy and making his debut in an Eastland-Fairfield production. He was previously seen in "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown", "The Curious Savage", "The Addams Family" and "Larceny & Old Lace".
Eastland-Fairfield's Performing Arts program at Reynoldsburg High School's Livingston Campus allows students to combine a love of the theatre and the desire for a successful performance career into a reality. The state-of-the-art theatre and lab, including a dance studio, scene shop, dressing rooms, and a theatre library, set the stage for many impressive performances. Students have many opportunities to be involved in program productions and are also encouraged to participate in their home school performances. Students choose to focus their studies in acting, dance, music, or technical theatre while studying various aspects of theatre.
