Program Overview

Firefighting is a one-year, senior-only program that is stationed at Eastland Career Center. Eastland-Fairfield's strong partnerships with local fire departments allow students unique, real-life opportunities to launch their public service careers. The program will prepare students for a field of work that values teamwork, physical fitness, workplace etiquette, pride, and ownership.

Students will feel the heat, literally, while training inside in-service firehouses, extinguishing simulated but very real fire, and learning from active and retired firefighters from around Central Ohio.

What you will learn

  • Emergency vehicle drivers training

  • Fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medicine

A Day in the Life ...

If you want to know what a typical day in the life of a firefighter is like before applying for the Firefighting program, get it straight from firefighters that partner with our program! It isn't all fires, hoses, and medical treatments, but there is a lot of preparation for a quick and efficient response when the bell rings. Check it out!
