Enjoy the outdoors? Like science? Ready to save the environment? Environmental Science students focus on the “real science” behind environmental problems and issues in Eastland’s Environmental Science lab and 75-acre Wetland Nature Preserve at New Albany High School. Students also have the opportunity to enroll in geological studies or a year-long research project involving a topic of the student’s choosing.

Students interested in this program should have a strong science foundation, be enrolled in college preparatory coursework, and have completed Algebra I by the start of the program.

Prepare for adventure.

Learn to identify and analyze environmental problems, evaluate the relative risks related to these problems, and examine alternate solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.
Students will study biotic and abiotic monitoring procedures, environmental chemistry, and can continue environmental studies at the advanced placement level. Field studies and summer internships are available. Areas of study include:
